Library Sections
We are customer focused, deliver positive experiences and accountable to our customers, in the library and ultimately to our community, therefore we are committed to provide excellent service and resources.
Reference & Research Section
The provision of reference services is a core function of library. Information services include the identification, collection, analysis, evaluation and dissemination of specific and accurate information and knowledge to users to support their interests, objectives and work. Reference and research collection provide, standard and interdisciplinary indexes and sources.
Periodical Section
The Library subscribes to over 15 journals, foreign and domestic, mostly related to our courses of study. The issues of the current year are arranged alphabetically by title on the periodical shelf.
Almost 15 leading dailies of Pakistan and foreign are received. The Newspapers are kept in the Library as per SMIU Library Policy.
This collection hold of back issues/volumes of periodicals, newspapers, graduates directories, program announcements, programs annual reports etc. A collection are bound and shelved separately and systematically.
Digital Resource Centre
Digital Resource Centre is equiped with core i7 computers, with students can enjoy long fasted internet surfing and access the various online databases take support for assignments, projects and research works.
Archive Collection
The Archives section is located on the first floor of the University Library building display materials to students and researcher to carry out their research. The Archive collection formally organized as the College Archives, became a separate major section of the Library in 2012. The material dates mainly from the last quarter of the nineteenth century to Pre-Independence Period.
Acquisition Section
The Library aim is to develop a high quality collection of books, serials and electronic databases (e-journals) to support teaching, learning and research at SMIU.
The Acquisition Section strives to acquire materials in all formats for the library collection material from well-known National and International publishers quickly, efficiently and economically along with effectively spending the materials budget in a timely manner.
Processing Section
The Processing Section serves the library by adding and updating the bibliographical records of books, serials, and audio-visual material. The Library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC).
Technical section is basic function to process acquire material classification DDC Scheme 23 edition, assign subject Heading, Tagging, Stamping and finally send to new arrival Shelves.
Circulation Section
Library circulation comprises the activities around the lending of library books and other material to users of library.
The primary responsibility of the Circulation Section is to ensure easy and quick access to the Library’s print collections and other resources The Section functions include:
