Computer Science Faculty

Dr. Shaikh has earned Doctorate Degree in Computer Application & Technology from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA). He has over two decades of professional experience in teaching and research in academia of across and beyond the borders including Pakistan, China and Oman. For plenty of years his administrative skills have thrived alongside academic skills. Followed by a couple of years rendering services as department chair, he was tenured as Dean Faculty in early 2012.
He is associated with number of reputable research communities and editorial boards. Dr. Shaikh is well published author of several research articles in reputable international Journals and Conference Proceedings. He has supervised several MS/PhD theses and projects and leading a research group of Computational Intelligence (CI). Presently, he has been carrying out dual responsibility of Chairperson of Computer Science as well as Dean Faculty of Information Technology.
Dr. Shaikh possesses very pleasant and friendly behavior and uses modern methodology for teaching and training. His research interest(s) is extended to Computational Intelligence, Combinatorial Optimization, Multi-Agents Technology, Analysis of Algorithms and many other similar themes. His passion is designing and development of innovative software tools to regulate academic affairs in order to provide quality education, and he always endeavors to inculcate the same passion in his students and colleagues.

Muhammad Malook Rind, PhD

Professor

Dr. Rind has around 20 years of diversified industry, academia, research, and administrative experience at renowned national and multinational institutes/organizations. He has recently completed his 3 years’ tenure as a Head of Computer Science Department at SMI, university. He earned his PhD in Information Technology (I.T) from International Islamic University Malaysia, ME (Communication Systems and Networks), and BE (Computer systems) from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan. Additionally, he is CCNA, CCNP (Routing & Switching), Juniper (JNCIA-ER, JNCIA-EX, JNCIA-JUNOS, JNCIS-SEC, JNCIS-ER) certified. He also attended various technical and professional trainings at UAE, Malaysia and Pakistan. Dr. Rind is an active reviewer of numerous national and international journals/conferences and also member of different statutory bodies of SMIU and other universities in Pakistan. He is author of one book and has contributed (published and presented) over 40 research articles in various ISI, Scopus, IEEE, HEC recognized journals and international conferences. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Software Defined Networking, Cloud Computing, Information Systems, Cyber Security, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Data Communication. He is actively involved in supervising, BS, MS and Ph.D research projects.

Asif Ali Wagan, PhD

Associate Professor

Dr. Asif Ai Wagan has earned his PhD in Information Technology from University Technology PETRONAS, Malaysia. Dr. Wagan has more than 10 years of professional experience in teaching and research. Dr. Wagan has experience of working with Hitachi, Japan and Realityone Sensor, Singapore. He is author of 18 international journals/conferences articles. His research interest includes wireless communication, network security, software-defined networking, big data, and data mining.

Asif Ali Laghari, PhD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Asif Ali Laghari earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Technology from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), China in 2019. He is the author of over 55 research articles in HEC recognized and impact factor journals, conferences and two book chapters of international repute. His research interests include Cloud Computing, Quality of Experience, Multimedia streaming, Fog computing and Social Networking.

Sarmad Ahmed Shaikh, PhD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sarmad has completed PhD in Information Technology with distinction from Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt, Austria, in 2018. He has more than 7 years of academic and professional research experience in the field of RF/microwave engineering and antenna designing. He has also done significant research work at Cambridge University, UK for a short period of time. He has published multiple research papers in international and ISI indexed journals, conferences, and workshops. Currently, he is also working as editor-in-chief of an international journal and reviewer for HEC research grants proposals and various well-known international journals and conferences. Dr Sarmad has been associated with SMIU since February 2020. His research interests include RF/microwave engineering, smart antenna arrays design, radio localization (DoA/AoA/ToA/RSSI), radar systems, wireless networking and artificial intelligence

Haque Nawaz Lashari, PhD

Lecturer

Dr. Haque Nawaz Lashari has earned his Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D. in Computer Science from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), Karachi, Pakistan in 2021. He has been associated with teaching and training since 2006. He is author of 44 published research papers in national/ international HEC recognized, Impact Factor, ISI, Scopus, Journals, and IEEE conferences. His field of interests include Network technologies, Networks and communication, wireless Networks and communication, IoT, Ad Hoc Networks, MANET, VANET, UAVCN, Routing Protocols, Efficient routing and Power Algorithms, UAVs Communication, UAVs Communication Algorithms, UAVCN Routing, QoS, and Security.

Syeda Nazia Ashraf, ME

Lecturer

Ms. Nazia obtained M.E in Computer Systems from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi in 2012 and BS in Computer Engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. She has teaching experience of more than 3 years at SMIU and 3 years in other institutions. Her areas of interest are Data Structures, Software Engineering, Databases, Computer Organization and Computer Vision. She is currently enrolled in PhD (CS) program at Bahria University, Karachi.

Sumaira Hussain, MS

Lecturer

Ms. Sumaira obtained her MS in Computer Science from Virtual University Pakistan in 2013. She has been involved in teaching since 2009. Her particular interest lies in software engineering and programming.

Sahar Zafar Jumani

Lecturer

Sahar Zafar Jumani holds MS in Computer Science from Shah Abdul University, Khairpur and has obtained M.Ed and BS (CS) from the same University. She has 9 years of teaching experience at university and college level. She has attended different workshop and training on learning to teach, Teaching Methodology, Assessment and Evaluation, English Teaching skill, Innovative and Modern Teaching Methodology, Research Methodology, A passionate Teacher from TRC, TDC, IBA sukkur, oxford Book Publication and, British Council.

Imran Khan, MS

Lecturer

Mr. Imran holds MS Degree in Networks and Telecommunication from Muhammad Ali Jinnah University Karachi and BSCS from University of Sindh Jamshoro. He has 9 years of industry experience in project management based on Information Technology projects. His areas of interest are Network security, Computer Networking, Network Management, Wireless Computing, Information and communication Technology and Project Management.

Qurban Ali, MS

Lecturer

Mr. Qurban has earned his MS in Computer Science with specialization in Computer Networks from Sukkur IBA University and BS in Electronics from University of Sindh, Jamshoro. His areas of interest include Information Security, Mobile CrowdSensing and Cloud Computing.

Khawaja Fahad Jawed, MS

Lecturer

Mr. Fahad has obtained Masters in Computer Science from SMIU in 2018 and graduation from Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology in 2014. He has been teaching undergraduate classes for more than a year. He wrote a research paper titled, ‘Impact of Multimedia on Society’ published in Sci Int.

Samreen Javed, MS

Lecturer

Ms. Samreen obtained MS in Computer Science from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University and is pursuing PhD at present. She also had M.Ed. in Education Management and Supervision. She has more than 10 years of teaching, administrative and managerial experience in different degree awarding military and engineering institutes. She had also served as member of Research and Audit Committee. Her areas of research are Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence. Her research papers Published in various national and international journals and conferences.

Danish Aziz Chandio

Mr. Danish Aziz obtained BS in Information Technology from Preston University, Karachi in 2006. He has more than 3 years of teaching experience at Dynamic Training Solutions, Hyderabad as an Instructor. His particular areas of study are Networks, Information Security and Vulnerability, Human Computer Interaction, Cloud Computing, Data Science and Virtualization.
