He emphasized that graduates of SMIU later played a significant role in leading the Muslims of the region and the Pakistan Movement.
Reflecting on his visit, he mentioned that Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai showed him the historic Talpur House, built in 1901 as a hostel for children of the Talpur family. He described it as a testament to the Sindhi Muslim community’s commitment to modern education.
Recalling the legislative journey of SMIU, Syed Murad Ali Shah noted that he was present during the Sindh Assembly session in December 2011 when the institution was granted university status, and he had proudly voted in its favor.

He credited Syed Murad Ali Shah’s personal interest in addressing key challenges faced by the university. He noted that when he took charge, SMIU had only 1,800 students, but over the past four years, enrollment has grown to 5,500, reflecting the institution’s rapid progress.
