Sindh Madressatul Islam University is a unique institution in Pakistan because of its association with the founder of the country, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The institution was given status of a Public-Sector University by Government of Sindh in 2012 and is recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Today, it is considered as one of the top quality and disciplined institutions of the country. University’s Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) has been placed in “W” category, the highest in ranking category, by the Higher Education Commission (HEC)’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for last couple of years.
SMIU is one of the very few universities in Pakistan which established its Media Studies Department as one of the five first departments with its own fully functional Television Studio and FM Radio station and media training Centre. The FM studio at SMIU have facility of a 24- Service transmission as well hands-on training faculty for students as well as media practitioners. The other departments of the university include Computer Science, Business Administration, Environmental Sciences and Education. All of them have state of the art facilities and highly qualified faculty.

SMIU also has the expertise to offer workshops, organize and help evaluate competitions, and hold meaningful panel discussions on the operational knowledge of the tools used in the media profession. SMIU is ready to play its role, support and highlight innovations in Creative Arts and Media fields and collaboratively organize this year’s event so that SMIU could support DICE's objective of connecting upcoming talent with related industry on a common platform.
The theme of SMIU- DICE CAM 2019 is Envisioning the Future of creative arts and media: Where is the world today and where should Pakistan be heading? The main purpose of this forum is to identify emerging trends in Media Industry and to keep pace with these emerging trends/critical industry developments for the upcoming years. A galaxy of leaders from academia, media practitioners from Pakistan and abroad are invited who will engage on academic issues as well as the issues of:

• Interdisciplinary studies and the cinematic forms in the digital age; 
• The idea of historicity in the reading of cinema in Pakistan; 
• Emergent forms of other media like video games, social networks, virtual reality;
• Experimental film and artistic intervention with new media technologies and etc.
